Since the amendment of the Animal Welfare Act, the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment has been entrusted with central tasks for the protection of laboratory animals. These are taken over by the German Center for the Protection of Laboratory Animals.

Our offers

With the amendment of the Animal Welfare Act (External Link:TierSchG) and the enactment of the new Regulation for the Protection of Animals used for Experimental or other Scientific Purposes (Animal Welfare Regulation for Laboratory Animals, External Link:TierSchVersV) in 2013, as well as the amendments to the Animal Welfare Act and the Regulation for the Reporting of Animals used for Experimental or other Purposes (Regulation for the Use of Laboratory Animals -VersTierMeldV) in 2021, the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment) was entrusted with several tasks relating to the protection of laboratory animals. Within the BfRshort forGerman Federal Institute for Risk Assessment these legal tasks are fulfilled by the German Centre for the Protection of Laboratory Animals.

  • NTP - Non technical project summeries for AnimalTestInfo

    Publication of non-technical project summaries in accordance with § 8 Absatz 6 TierSchG i.V.m. § 41 TierSchVersV

  • Laboratory animal report

    Coordination of laboratory animal reporting in accordance with § 16c TierSchG in conjunction with § 2 VersTierMeldV. § 2 VersTierMeldV, evaluation of the data and transmission of the data to the EU

  • PARERE network

    Cooperation with the competent authorities of other Member States and the European Commission on issues relating to the regulatory relevance and suitability of the alternative methods proposed for validation in accordance with Section 16g (2) TierSchG.
