Funding
The German Center for the Protection of Laboratory Animals (Bf3R) allocates funds for scientific research projects with the aim of developing alternative methods in line with the 3R principle. Furthermore, the Bf3R coordinates the nationwide allocation of funding initiatives for 3R-relevant research. Bf3R scientists also advise other German federal states (“Laender”) on allocating grant funds for 3R-relevant research.
Beyond that, the Bf3R advises the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMELshort forGerman Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture) on the awarding of the German Animal Welfare Research Prize.
The Bf3R provides the SET Foundation for the Promotion of Research into Alternative and Complementary Methods to Reduce Animal Experiments with financial support and advice.
