The Centre for Documentation and Evaluation of Alternatives to Animal Experiments (ZEBET)
ZEBET stands for the “Centre for Documentation and Evaluation of Alternatives to Animal Experiments” at the BfR.
It was founded in 1989 with the aim of reducing the use of animals for scientific purposes to the necessary minimum and developing alternatives to animal experiments. After the amendment of the Animal Welfare Act in 2013 and the associated restructuring of the BfR's area of responsibility in the field of laboratory animal protection, ZEBET was fully integrated into the newly founded Bf3R.
